This modular unit was manufactured by a local business ‘Farmer Furniture’ in the early 1980’s. It was re-upholstered 12 years ago however the clients had never been happy with the quality of the re-upholstery job as it simply “did not feel like the old suite when new”.
We stripped the upholstery from the modular frame revealing that the second layer of fabric had simply been placed over the initial fabric in which the suite was made. The problem with this is that if the webbing, body padding and cushioning are not replaced so the furniture quickly returns to a dysfunctional state.
We stripped all the upholstery to the bare frames and effected some structural repairs. Then we started on the complete re-upholstery process, fitting heavy duty elastic webbing, laminating new high density body work padding and fabricating new polyester encased premium seat and back cushion inserts. We then modernised the upholstery finish without losing the authentic character of the suite.
The final result was a well finished and functional modular lounge the family will enjoy for many years into the future.
